Turquoise Willow

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 518 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in rough, yellow bark, and inside, the flexible wood is burgundy.

The small handful of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of waxy, huge, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally washed-out green.

In late summer it forms giant, turquoise aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
