Clinging Azurevine

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 129 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous branched, slanted stems covered in knobbly, gray bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, wide, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are azure at the bottom and slate with vibrant orange zig-zags at the top, delicate and smooth.

It produces hundreds of tiny, lilac flowers with sickle shaped petals. They are sturdy and have no scent. In late winter it forms largeindigo aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
