Climbing Cinnamon Shrub

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 136 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous wide, wavy stems covered in hard, smooth, light gray bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of large, very narrow and elongated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are light grey and grey, frail and soft.

In late spring it produces large amounts of medium-sized, bronze blossoms with broad, flat petals. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like cinnamon.

In early autumn small fan-like fruits ripen. The smooth magenta skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy sky blue flesh is sour and juicy. The yellow seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.
