Emerald

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its green stem is wispy and splits into 3 branching stems at the base, and the huge, yellow-green leaves are dark emerald on the underside and are long, tapering with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Around 50 small flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 14 cm (5.5 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of pink. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 24 petals. They are very delicate.

It has a delicate scent that smells like misty mornings, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
