Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) tall. Its moss green stems grow in bunches of 5 and are very thin and straight, and the large, gray-green leaves are very thick with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

A single medium-sized flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 12 cm (4.7 inches) wide, with petals that are either amber or grey, with a yellow center. The flower head is made up of 8 petals in raised layers. They are very delicate.

It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like burning wood, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
