Copperwood

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, wonky trunk covered in ridged, light brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright, with dozens of twigs covered with copious amounts of small, yellow needles. The needles themselves are light.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, olive seed pods.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
