Silverfern

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 38 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of thick, wavy stems covered in fine, silky, silver bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches trail down towards the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of tiny, very narrow and elongated, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in crimson, hazel and dark brown varieties, hardy and rough.

In early spring it produces thousands of giant, peach flowers with perforated petals. They detach easily and have no scent.
