Serpent's Spine

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The finger-like stem is silver, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 47 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with orange petals that gradient shift to brown on the outer edge. The central disk is ashy green grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of many petals in raised layers. It has a delicate scent that smells like rotting meat.

The cactus's skin is thick, the turquoise flesh is smooth, and the ashy green sap is thin.


It is very resistant to fire damage.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It commonly grows in large patches.
