Moss Green Petal Flower

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its moss green stem is wispy and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, moss green leaves are thin with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 4 to 8 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with petals that are pink in the center, olive in the middle and black at the edges. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. They fall easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like roses, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
