Crimson Vine

This large bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 275 feet (83.8 meters) and growing as high as 116 feet (35.4 meters).

It takes 18 months for the caramel stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 1.0 foot (30 cm) and are smooth and fuzzy.

The asymmetrical, soft leaves reach up to 1.3 feet (41 cm) in length. They are solid crimson or magenta, with slate zig-zags, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces bunches of small dark grey flowers, and during the late summer, after flowering, it produces excessive amounts of tiny fruits.
