Copper-colored

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 20 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several slender, slanted stems covered in delicate, knobbly, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are very short and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, stiff, pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are generally olive, frail and fuzzy.

In early summer it produces many medium-sized, slate blossoms with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like paint.

In early winter small stiff, pointed fruits ripen. The smooth brilliant purple skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft light brown flesh is sour and sticky. The grey seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.
