Copper Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 41 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in thick, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of large, pleated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in brown, faded purple and dark brown varieties.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, aquamarine blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like chocolate.

In early winter it produces , oval fruit. The sticky indigo skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy dark grey flesh is bitter and spicy and oily. The blood red seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
