Silvervine

This modest-sized flower grows up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. Its gray stem is thick and straight, and the small, silver leaves are shield-shaped with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single large flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 35 cm (13.8 inches) wide, with olive petals and a gentle orange central disk. The flower head is made up of 32 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. They detach easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like rainy days, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
