Lilac Spine Caudiciform
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short caudiciform grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The pleated stem is yellow-green, and is covered in hundreds of rigid lilac spines. It has a straight, slender, deep red trunk atop a flat stilted platform of waxy, exposed roots. The branches are thin and burgundy and are short stubs.
The smooth-edged, wispy leaves are either hazel or blue, with peach patches. They are frail, and are very difficult to pull away.
It is very fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with solid subtle blue petals decorated with black lines and a bronze central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 19 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. It has a soft scent that smells like rotting meat.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the turquoise flesh is waxy, and the light grey sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The sap is aquamarine.
