Violet Creeper

Climbing plant type: Creeper (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This massive creeper is a very slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 2,147 feet (654.4 meters) and growing as high as 248 feet (75.6 meters).

It takes 31 years for the violet stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 2.5 feet (76 cm) and are thick and twisted.

The slender, pointed, clammy leaves reach up to 1.8 feet (56 cm) in length. They are generally gentle purple, and have jagged edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces a thick sheet of small slate flowers.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
The leaves are high in natural sugars.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It can survive a long time without water.
