Orange Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 5 finger-like stems. Each stem is green and moss green, and is covered in dozens of flexible bold orange spines. The mushroom-shaped body is yellow, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid gold spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 35 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are orange in the center, amber in the middle and amber at the edges grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 45 widely spaced narrow petals. It has an intense scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

The cactus's skin is thin, the red flesh is waxy, and the lilac sap is thin.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
