Burgundy Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is yellow-green and yellow, and is covered in brittle beige spines. The stumpy, crimson trunk can grow to as much as 13 feet (4.0 meters) in diameter. Its burgundy branches trail down to the ground.
The irregular-edged, circular leaves are generally yellow. They are hardy, and easily come away when pulled.
It is very fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are orange in the center, amber in the middle and amber at the edges grow at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is shaped like a cup with 53 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like glue.
The caudiciform's skin is thin, the beige flesh is sticky, and the azure sap is thin.
