Golden Spikeactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 53 feet (16.2 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thick bunches of fine, caramel, hair-like spines. The spherical body is orange-yellow or lime, and is covered in brittle dark grey spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 11 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with red petals on the lower layer and grey petals decorated with lilac dots on the inner layer. The central disk is hazel, grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 curved petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like lavender.

The cactus's skin is delicate, the brown flesh is sticky, and the yellow sap is thin.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
The sap is edible and very savoury.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
