Amberfruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in thin, waxy, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is black with white speckles.

The sparse amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of giant, stiff, pointed leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are brown on the sides and gold at the center.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of medium-sized, amber blossoms with perforated petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like varnish.

In late summer it produces small, fan-like fruit. The hairy bold blue skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy brown flesh is bitter and oily. The blood red seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
