Coilwood Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This average-sized tree grows up to 7 meters (23.0 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 569 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, black bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.

The branches are very long and slender and are covered with copious amounts of clammy, small, circular leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are brown and indigo.

In late summer it forms tiny, dark orange berries.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
