Magenta

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 38 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a flexible, crooked trunk covered in hard, cracked, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white with black speckles.

The small handful of branches are very short and thin and are covered with handfuls of large, slender, pointed leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are grey and beige.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, magenta blossoms with 8 heart-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like marzipan.

In mid-summer it produces , cuboid fruit. The waxy lilac skin is tough and sweet, and the very soft aquamarine flesh is bitter and sticky. The red seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
