Twilight Vinefruit

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 18 feet (5.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in rough, silver bark, and inside, the soft wood is silver.

The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber with slate edges.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, deep yellow blossoms with long, tapering petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like burning wood.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The fuzzy violet skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy caramel flesh is overwhelmingly sour and very juicy. The cream seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
