Copperleaf

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 431 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in delicate, ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The numerous branches are very long and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of crispy, tiny, 6 pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are lilac and cream.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, yellow, shelled seeds.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
