Magenta Vine
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This large shrub grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for around 10 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has several slender, angular stems covered in paper-thin, knobbly, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.
The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of small, sickle shaped, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are subtle green and brilliant yellow, delicate and soft.
In mid-spring it produces many medium-sized, magenta flowers with wide petals. They are hardy and have a soft scent that smells like cigarette smoke.
The sap causes itchiness of the skin
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
