Silverfern

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2982 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in ridged, silver and white bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale yellow.

The small bunches of branches trail down to the ground, with thousands of twigs covered with thick bunches of huge, white and dark brown needles. The needles themselves are delicate.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, yellow, shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
