Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in fine, knobbly, light brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale yellow.

The sparse patches of branches are very short and slender and are covered with copious amounts of small, very thin leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid red or black, with brown zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, sky blue blossoms with 3 heart-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like citrus.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The crispy olive skin is thin and inedible, and the soft orange flesh is sweet and dry. The light brown seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

Several parts of the tree have medicinal properties.
