Coniapple
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This giant fruit tree grows up to 73 feet (22.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 82 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.
The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, very narrow and elongated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are cyan and red.
In early spring, it produces lots of small, turquoise blossoms with wide petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like rotting meat.
In late autumn it produces very large, triangular fruit. The rubbery purple skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft magenta flesh is salty and oily. The crimson seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
