Magenta Apple Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is mahogany-coloured.

The small handful of branches are very long and thin and are covered with large amounts of small, wide leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are magenta on the sides and gold at the center.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of giant, sky blue blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like apple.

In late autumn it produces small, wide fruit. The rough pink skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is bitter and juicy. The red seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
