Blackwood

This huge tree grows up to 142 meters (465.9 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 119 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a very thick, wonky trunk covered in wrinkled, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is black with white speckles.

The sparse amount of branches trail down across the ground, covered with large amounts of small, green needles. The needles themselves are robust.

In late summer it produces giant, crimson aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
