Goldenfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This large fruit tree grows up to 43 feet (13.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 18 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in delicate, ridged, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale brown.

The small bunches of branches are short and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of large, very narrow and elongated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are aquamarine on the edges and dark brown at the center.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, gold blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like wet dog.

In early summer it produces tiny, pleated fruit. The clammy red skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is spicy, and the soft orange flesh is bitter and sour and sticky. The beige seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It grows well in the sun and full shade.
