Bluebell

Flower type: Biennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.8 feet (56 cm) tall. Its grey stem is very thick and straight, and the huge, moss green leaves are pleated with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Two large flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with alternating petals of white and sky blue, with a slate central disk. The flower head is made up of 30 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. They are sturdy.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like a woman, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
