Emerald Fire

Flower type: Annual (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.8 feet (56 cm) tall. Its emerald stems grow in bunches of 3 and are wispy with a curved tip, and the miniature, emerald leaves are flame-shaped with wavy edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 14 cm (5.5 inches) wide, with petals that are either black or vivid yellow, with a yellow center. The flower head is largely flat with 21 widely spaced round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a weak scent that smells like meat, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
