Turquoise Heartflower

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its orange stems grow in bunches of 3 and are wispy with a curved tip, and the small, gray-green leaves are long, tapering with wavy edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Around 80 small flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with petals that are orange at the sides and turquoise at the center. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of handfuls of widely spaced, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like vomit, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
