Violetbell

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This big shrub grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for around 15 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several slender, straight stems covered in fine, wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of miniature, asymmetrical, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are violet on the sides and dark orange at the center, pliable and crispy.

In late summer it produces many clusters of tiny, gentle purple flowers with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like sweat.

The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
