Violet Fruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, slanted trunk covered in very thick, smooth, light brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of miniature, stiff, pointed leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are generally blue.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of medium-sized, gentle purple blossoms with teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In mid-autumn it produces , circular fruit. The soft bronze skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy violet flesh is sweet and oily. The cream seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
