Golden Spine

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is gold, and is covered in hundreds of fine, white, hair-like spines. The spherical body is gold, and is dotted with small black spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 28 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are lilac on the edges and copper at the center grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 17 curved petals. It has an intense scent that smells like coffee.

The cactus's skin is thick, the silver flesh is rough, and the lilac sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
