Violetvine

This modest-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 39 feet (11.9 meters) and growing as high as 105 feet (32.0 meters).

It takes 3 years for the orange-yellow stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and are smooth and woody.

The perforated, clammy leaves reach up to 7 inches (18 cm) in length. They are slate and violet, and have toothed edges.

During late spring, the bine produces copious amounts of tiny purple flowers, and during the late summer, after flowering, it produces copious amounts of small berries.
