Bloodwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized tree grows up to 7 meters (23.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 195 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in silky, brown-green bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The small clumps of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of soft, large, thick leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are generally white.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, gentle red blossoms with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like blood.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, cream, shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
