Azureberry

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 12 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous sturdy, angular stems covered in hard, smooth, light gray bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of large, circular, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either bright blue, or azure with indigo edges, resistant and leathery.

In mid-spring it produces hundreds of giant, amber blossoms with finger-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like fresh linen.

In early winter oval fruits ripen. The fuzzy olive skin is stretchy and sweet and salty, and the soft azure flesh is bitter and syrupy. The dark green seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.
