Crimsonbell

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its lime and crimson stem is thick and splits into many branching stems at the top, and the miniature, hazel and grey leaves are dark emerald on the underside and are triangular with serrated edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

6 to 10 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of blood red. The flower head is made up of 12 petals in raised layers. They are hardy.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like baby powder, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
