Pink Trumpet Tree

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 349 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in waxy, dark green bark, and inside, the very light wood is white.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of fuzzy, large, very thin leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either pink or slate, with magenta patches.

In early spring, it produces dozens of small, dark brown blossoms with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like skunk spray.

In late summer it forms tiny, drab orange, shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
