Golden Caudiciform

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is gray, and is dotted with small brown spines. The stocky, deep yellow trunk can grow to as much as 10 feet (3.0 meters) in diameter. Its green branches trail down to the ground.

The wavy-edged, needle-like leaves are either grey, or purple with silver splotches. They are frail, and take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of crimson and pastel orange, with a dull yellow central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 20 widely spaced narrow petals. It has a faint scent that smells like bleach.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the blue flesh is rough, and the light brown sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
