Orange Spike Moss

This orange moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas On trees.
It is large, growing up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is extremely rigid; it struggles more than most during dry spells.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release millions of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
