Purple Petal
Flower type: Annual (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This average-sized flower grows up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. Its brown stem is very thin and splits into several branching stems halfway up, and the large, vivid purple leaves are light olive or violet on the underside and are long, narrow with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
Each stem splits 3 to 5 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 14 cm (5.5 inches) wide, with petals that are generally red; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 36 petals. They are sturdy.
It has a strong scent that smells like mango, and it has copious amounts of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
