Cyanthosucculent

This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The wispy stem is pink-red, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible bronze spines. The straight, slate trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter at the top. Its bronze branches trail down across the ground and start growing at the top the stem.

The handfuls of ripped-edged, thin leaves are bright blue at the bottom and black with cyan edges at the top. They are resilient, and detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 45 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with turquoise petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 32 curved petals. It has a weak scent that smells like soap.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the light grey flesh is sticky, and the crimson sap is thin and causes severe cramps if consumed.
