Silvery Tree

This modest-sized tree grows up to 24 meters (78.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 223 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in thick, silky, dark green bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown.

The large clumps of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of smooth, giant, fan-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of gray that gradient shifts to light grey at the top.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, dark brown blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like vanilla.

In late summer it forms tiny, dull orange, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
