Cyanberry

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, slanted trunk covered in smooth, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is dark brown.

The numerous branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small bunches of giant, very thick leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in hazel, sky blue and pink varieties.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of tiny, aquamarine blossoms with umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like vomit.

In late summer it produces tiny, asymmetrical fruit. The smooth cyan skin is thick and inedible, and the soft white flesh is sweet and savoury and juicy. The vivid red seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
