Aurora Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in fine, ridged, yellow bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow-brown.
The thin clumps of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of huge, wide leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are found in light blue, aquamarine and florescent orange varieties.
In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, hazel blossoms with 4 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like cherry.
In late autumn it produces large, spherical fruit. The waxy amber skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is spicy and savoury, and the very soft green flesh is savoury and very juicy. The green seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
