Emerald Pine
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 32 meters (105.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 64 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a wide, straight trunk covered in cracked, dark green bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black with white speckles.
The small bunches of branches are short and thin, with dozens of twigs covered with copious amounts of large, emerald needles. The needles themselves are robust.
In late summer it produces large, gold, spiky-shelled seeds.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
