Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)This small flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its red stem is thin, and the huge, orange leaves are long, narrow with ripped edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.
Many medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are hazel in the center, aquamarine in the middle and slate at the edges. The flower head is made up of 42 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. They detach easily.
It has a fairly strong scent that smells like freshly baked bread, and it has lots of pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
